Re: COVID-19 Virus Updates
Dear Residents, Family and Friends:
The Shawnee PARC Family continues to follow the Covid-19 Plan as listed in previous correspondence which has greatly helped in providing you with another positive report; there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 to date! Our highest priority is keeping your loved one and our employees safe and healthy, therefore we constantly review and monitor all of the documentation regarding precautionary measures and implement them. Recently, there have been additions to the nursing home guidelines from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) which we have put in place and would like to share with you:
- The residents are encouraged to stay in their rooms, and to cover their mouths with a tissue when staff enter.
- Standard precautions continue to be used when entering a resident’s room and social distancing is utilized (unless hands-on care is being provided).
- If a resident must leave their room, they are asked to wear a mask if they are able and to practice social distancing.
We apologize if you feel like we provide guidance one minute and then modify guidance the next. Guidance is ever-changing and it will continue to be so until the Federal and State governments feel like things have been somewhat stabilized. We will keep you updated on these changes weekly and how they apply to our Residents, Staff, and Visitors. Upon many implemented interventions to keep our facility safe, we are taking no chances; our Clinical Team is implementing isolation precautions on Residents and Patients who show symptoms to prevent the spread of illnesses. As you can imagine, donning and un-donning PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is lengthening call-light times. Therefore, we ask for your patients during these unprecedented times as the staff does their best to meet the needs of the people that we love and care for.
As a reminder, we are encouraging virtual visitations via Face Time and face to face visitations from our screened porch. If you are interested in scheduling a virtual or face to face visitation, please reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819 and she’ll be happy to set up a time with you. We thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts to keep our residents and staff safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.
At your service,
The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC
