Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

We are thankful to report that we still have not had any confirmed cases of Covid-19 and we continue to follow the highest standard of infection control practices. Our Infection Control Team is keeping up to date on the guidelines from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) to protect our residents, families and employees.

The most current information received from CMS is that they will be sending Skilled Nursing Facilities equipment to do Covid-19 rapid testing in-house which will allow us to receive results quicker in the future. Right now, results are obtained in five to seven days and with the new equipment, results will be available in about an hour. Being able to do the testing at the facility, might make it possible to test visitors and then allow them in the building to visit their loved ones. The specific timeframe to get the testing equipment is still to be determined by CMS and we will let you know when we have it and are able to start changing the visitation policies.

We thank you all for your patience, understanding and support during these uncertain and difficult times. Please continue to reach out to your loved ones and stay connected with them. As a reminder, you may reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819 or email her at wbanda@thehealthcareresort.com to schedule porch or virtual visits. Also, if you have a new email address, phone number or mailing address, please email the information to ShawneePARC-Families@EnsignServices.net or call 913-277-9345.

Thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts to keep our residents and staff safe. Your discipline, dedication, and grace during this time is greatly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.

At your service,

The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC
