Re: COVID-19 Updates
Dear Residents, Family and Friends:
We are committed to keeping you informed as things develop regarding the three non-clinical staff members who underwent Covid-19 testing. We have received two out of three results back from the lab which have been deemed positive for the virus. We are unsure when the third test result will arrive at this time, but we will certainly let you know when it does come in. The three staff members remain quarantined from the building and will continue to remain away from the facility for a minimum period of 14 days to include 72 hours symptom free before being able to return to work per KDHE and JoCo Health Department. Upon return, they will be required to be assessed by our Infection Control Preventionalist and complete the CDC standardize essential employee assessment.
The number of cases in our County and our State continue to rise, which directly increases the likelihood that cases will continue to appear in all healthcare settings. We are certainly doing all we can per CMS and CDC guidelines in conjunction with KDHE and our County Health Department to minimize the risk of the virus coming into our facility. We’ve been very fortunate that we have not had a single confirmed case within our Resident and Patient population so far.
We were all hoping to be welcoming family and friends back to Shawnee PARC by now, but unfortunately this is not viable yet. All re-opening plans for all facilities presented to the Health Department have been placed on hold until further notice. We, in Long Term Care, are aware that separation from family and friends has been affecting the Patients and Residents under our care all over the Country; and we’ve been able to implement ways of interacting with Resident’s loved ones via scheduled virtual and screened meetings. Unfortunately, this is all that we as healthcare providers are allowed to offer family and friends at this time. We also empathize and sympathize with our Residents and families as we see how hard this is first hand and our hearts and minds are devastated by our inability to physically reunite Residents with loved ones.
We are ardently working on staying ahead of this virus as much as we can. We thank you for your continuous support, diligence, and grace. We encourage you, as we do all our staff, to please stay safe, wear your mask when you’re outside your home, social distance, and use proper hand hygiene. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.
At your service,
The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC
