Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

We are happy to report that Shawnee PARC has not had a single confirmed Covid-19 case by any of our Residents or Patients since the beginning of this pandemic. Our tightknit community has been diligent in developing and implementing safety interventions that have been contributing factors to keeping our Residents and Patients safe. We do feel that in large part, it has been by providence that this virus has not taken hold of any of our Residents and Patients; and for that we are truly grateful.

As previously reported, we’ve been working with KDHE and the JoCo Health Department on focused Covid-19 testing for Residents and Staff by sections of the facility to validate our Covid free status. As of our most recent focused testing, all results returned to us negative for Covid-19 which we are very glad to announce.

As previously reported, we have had Staff members who have either been exposed or have developed Covid symptoms. We’ve been able to collaborate with our Staff members with exposure and/or symptoms to be able to early detect and prevent any unnecessary contact with the facility. We are also happy to report that our Staff members with Covid symptoms are either currently recovering or have recovered. We deeply appreciate and praise our Team for being self-aware of their own health condition and for acting responsibly on their and our behalf as a community of healthcare workers fighting the good fight. Their diligence and discipline have certainly contributed to our Residents and Patients being Covid negative.

Our Residents are still encouraged to stay in their rooms as much as possible. Unfortunately, we have postponed activities for the time being; but we are doing creative things that bring love and life to our Residents and Patients each and every day. We are still encouraging all our Family Members and Friends to schedule virtual meetings with Winnie Banda, Activities Director. Your interaction with your loved ones is more important now more than ever; please take time to spend with them. We have also added a canopy outside of Willow Bend sunroom for Families and Friends to be shaded from the weather during your visitations; we did this thinking of ways to make your visit more pleasant and more comfortable.

We are ardently working on staying ahead of this virus as much as we can. We thank you for your continuous support, diligence, and grace. We encourage you, as we do all our Staff, to please stay safe, wear your mask when you’re outside your home, social distance, and use proper hand hygiene. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.

At your service,

The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC
