COVID-19 Updates 11.6.20

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Patients, Residents, Family and Friends;

In our commitment to keep you updated as we navigate through this pandemic, we would like to inform you that all of our Staff and Residents continue to be tested weekly and there have been three Staff members and two Residents that have tested positive for Covid-19. The Staff have been quarantined from the facility and will keep our Infection Control Clinician informed regarding their progress until their illness has been resolved. They will only be able to return to work once the criteria is met to safely do so. The Residents have been transferred to our Covid Unit and are being taken care of and monitored closely by our dedicated Staff and Medical Director Group. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we look forward to their full recovery.

On Tuesday, October 27, one State Surveyor arrived unannounced to perform an Infection Control Survey; he reported no concerns and no recommendations upon exit. The Surveyor was complimentary of our infection control policies and procedures, staff education, and how the staff has handled having Covid positive cases. The State Surveyor also had positive comments regarding our Covid Unit and how it has benefited our Residents and Patients who have tested positive for Covid-19. The Surveyor interviewed a random set of Residents which all were complementary of the staff and the care they’ve been receiving.

All Residents and Staff will continue to be assessed for signs and symptoms of the virus and will be tested weekly per the Johnson County Department of Health guidelines for the Yellow Zone. We are diligently collaborating with the Department of Health to ensure we are doing everything on our end to keep our Residents, Patients and Staff as safe as possible. Should a loved one begin to show symptoms and/or test positive for Covid-19, we will let you know as soon as possible and share the plan with you.

With Thanksgiving being right around the corner, we hoped that Covid cases would be on the decline and that we could welcome Family and Friends to reconnect with our Residents and Patients. Unfortunately, cases in our County have continued to rise making it difficult to re-unite Families and Friends as it is unsafe for Residents to even leave the facility for family visits due to potential exposure. Currently, Johnson County is in the Yellow Zone at 8.6% which is a rise from the last several weeks. Though things might seem bleak, our Dietary Team will be preparing an amazing scrumptious holiday dinner for our Residents and Patients and our Activities Department will ensure that our Residents and Patients get in the holiday spirit here in their home surrounded by all the Staff that have become a part of their family as well.

Our top priority is keeping our Residents and Staff as safe as possible. Thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts during this pandemic. Your discipline, dedication, and grace during this time is greatly appreciated.

At your service,

The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Patients, Residents, Family and Friends;

In our commitment to keep you informed as we navigate through this pandemic, we would like to provide you with an update.

The Johnson County Health Department’s Epidemiologist and Gerontologist met with the Team to discuss infection control State Survey outcomes, review policies and procedures related to the facility’s Covid Contingency Plan, and inspect our observation unit and Covid Unit. The Department of Health was very impressed with their visit and granted Shawnee PARC the ability to admit patients with Covid to our Covid Unit. We currently have 13 private rooms designated to our Covid Unit, which six are currently occupied with Patients; one Patient was admitted from an affiliated facility and one from the hospital. The Department of Health is certainly glad and grateful that we have the capability, skill, resources, and know-how to be able to provide this much needed service to our community. They will continue to partner with us as we continue to serve our Residents and Patients in our community. Read more

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Patients, Residents, Family and Friends;

In our commitment to keep you updated as we navigate through this pandemic, we would like to notify you that we currently have four Residents and four staff members which have been confirmed Covid-19 positive.

The four Residents who tested positive for Covid-19 are being taken care of and monitored closely by our dedicated staff and Medical Director group in our Covid Unit. Our Clinical and Environmental Team continues to implement our contingency plan to contain the potential spread of the virus as much as possible. The four staff members that have tested positive for Covid-19 are quarantined from the facility and currently recovering at home.

As we mentioned in the previous letter, we are currently devising a plan to reopen the facility per CMS, CDC and JOCO Health Department. The facility must be “Covid Free” for 14 days prior to allowing visitations. Therefore, every time there’s a new Covid case, the 14 day waiting period restarts. We are definitely looking forward to being able to reconnect our Residents and Patients with their loved ones! We will keep you informed as we get more information on reopening and what that will look like for Shawnee PARC.

Thank you for your support and trusting us with the care of your loved one. We will certainly keep you updated as we continue to mitigate through these Covid cases.

At your service,

The Leadership Team at Shawnee PARC

Dear Patients, Residents, Family and Friends;

We are grateful to report to you that our Assisted Living Resident who was positive for Covid has returned to her apartment and is still feeling great. In addition, all of the Residents in Assisted Living have been tested and each of the tests have returned negative for the virus.

We currently do have two Residents who tested positive for Covid in our Covid Unit. Our Clinical and Environmental Team did a wonderful job at implementing our contingency plan to contain the potential spread of the virus as much as possible. The Residents are being taken care of and monitored closely by our dedicated staff and Medical Director group. Through testing, we did note that one staff member was also positive for Covid-19; this staff member was quarantined from the facility and is currently recovering at home. Read more
