Re: COVID-19 Virus Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

We are happy to report that, as of today, there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Shawnee PARC. Our staff continues to follow the Covid-19 Plan to keep your loved ones and our employees safe and healthy while we constantly keep up to date on the nursing home guidelines from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and CDC (Center for Disease Control).

One question we are frequently asked is when will family members and visitors be allowed to come in to the building again? Unfortunately, we still do not have a date or know for sure when visitation will be allowed. What we do know is that the Federal and State health regulators are discussing and developing guidelines for reopening nursing homes that would allow visitors to return to facilities while keeping the residents’ health and safety in the highest regard. A prime concern for industry officials and infection-control experts is that moving too fast in reopening facilities could increase the risks for the frail and elderly residents, who have been the largest population to succumb to the Coronavirus. With this in mind, we don’t want to take any chances with your loved ones, so it may be longer than we had hoped before we open the facility back up to family members and visitors. Your patience, understanding and support are greatly appreciated during this uncertain time. Please know as more information becomes available, we will keep you updated.

In our efforts to keep you informed in the timeliest manner possible, we would like to request your email address to have on file for future correspondence. Please email ShawneePARC-Families@EnsignServices.net or call 913-277-9345 to provide your email address and any changes to your home address or phone number. If we are unable to answer, please leave a detailed message on our confidential and secure voicemail system. Thank you in advance for helping us maintain your contact information current. You may also find the most recent news and information on our website at https://shawneeparc.com/news/.

Please remember, we are offering virtual visitations via Face Time and face to face visitations from our screened-in porch. If you are interested in these options, please reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819 to schedule a time.

As always, we thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts to keep our residents and staff safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.

At your service,
