Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

We are happy to report that Shawnee PARC has not had a single confirmed Covid-19 case by any of our Residents or Patients since the beginning of this pandemic. Our tightknit community has been diligent in developing and implementing safety interventions that have been contributing factors to keeping our Residents and Patients safe. We do feel that in large part, it has been by providence that this virus has not taken hold of any of our Residents and Patients; and for that we are truly grateful. Read more

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

We are committed to keeping you informed as things develop regarding the three non-clinical staff members who underwent Covid-19 testing. We have received two out of three results back from the lab which have been deemed positive for the virus. We are unsure when the third test result will arrive at this time, but we will certainly let you know when it does come in. The three staff members remain quarantined from the building and will continue to remain away from the facility for a minimum period of 14 days to include 72 hours symptom free before being able to return to work per KDHE and JoCo Health Department. Upon return, they will be required to be assessed by our Infection Control Preventionalist and complete the CDC standardize essential employee assessment. Read more

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

As of today, we still have not had any confirmed cases of Covid-19 and continue to follow the highest standard of infection control practices. The non-visitation policy has not been lifted but our Infection Control Team is working with the Public Health Department Regional Task Force for Covid-19 in Long-Term Care on a plan to allow outdoor visits. The following items will be taken into consideration:

  • Appropriate outdoor spacing to allow for social distancing
  • A plan for symptom screening
  • The maximum number of visitors per day
  • Resident eligibility for visits
  • Scheduling processes
  • Visitation logistics and guidelines

In addition, we are now allowing residents to participate in group activities and group therapies with appropriate social distancing and masking, as well as communal dining in small groups with social distancing. Please note that all of these activities continue to be contingent on not having any COVID cases.

As a reminder, please reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819 or email her at wbanda@thehealthcareresort.com to schedule porch or virtual visits. Also, if you have a new email address, phone number or mailing address, please email the information to ShawneePARC-Families@EnsignServices.net or call 913-277-9345.

Thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts to keep our residents and staff safe. Your discipline, dedication, and grace during this time is greatly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.

Re: COVID-19 Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

Another week has passed and we are thankful that we still have not had any confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Shawnee PARC. Our staff continue to diligently practice the highest infection control precautions and standards provided by CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), CDC (Center for Disease Control), Kansas Department of Health, and the Johnson County Department of Health.

The Shawnee PARC Infection Control Team has collaborated with the Johnson County Department of Health to compose a plan for re-opening while abiding by the CDC guidelines and have submitted the proposed plan for approval. We are now waiting to receive feedback from the Johnson County Department of Health before the plan can be implemented. We do not know when we will receive their approval as it may take some time for the health department to review all of the proposed plans by the numerous facilities in the County. When the re-opening plan is finalized and dates are set, we will inform you. We will provide detailed guidelines regarding your visit so that you can prepare in advance. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support through these very rough times.

It has been wonderful to see family members visiting with their loved ones at the windows or the screened in porch area. Please remember to continue to wear a mask during the porch or window visits while social distancing to keep your loved ones, the residents and staff safe and healthy. To schedule a face to face visit from the screened-in porch or a virtual Face Time visit, please reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819 or email her at wbanda@thehealthcareresort.com.

Thank you to all of you that have provided your updated email address, mailing address, and/or phone numbers. If you have not done so already and have new contact information, please email ShawneePARC-Families@EnsignServices.net or call 913-277-9345. COVID-19 Virus Updates 6.12.20

6/12/2020

Re: COVID-19 Virus Updates

Dear Residents, Family and Friends:

At this time, there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Shawnee PARC. While this is fantastic news, we recognize that these trying times have been difficult for you and your loved ones as we continue to follow the guidelines from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and CDC (Center for Disease Control) to protect our Residents, Families and Staff which includes restricting all visitation except during end of life reasons. As of today, there have been no changes in these visitation guidelines and we still do not have a date, or know for sure when visitations will be permitted. We are waiting for further guidance from CMS, CDC, Kansas Department of Health, and the Johnson County Department of Health. Care centers will open up for visitors once the green light has been given by each individual County in conjunction with Federal/State/County guideless and once all safety measures have been implemented by each facility. Part of re-opening will include that all Residents and Staff be tested for Covid -19; which will bottle-neck the process of re-opening as labs around the County, State, and Country will be vastly overwhelmed by the number of tests required by our governing bodies. In an effort to expedite the process after the green light has been given, Shawnee PARC has signed agreements with multiple lab vendors to be able to accomplish this great task.

With that in mind, we are committed to helping our residents stay connected to their loved ones and want to work together with you to make that possible. Below is a list of ideas on how to keep in touch and ways we are supporting communication between our residents and their families.

  • Communication through Technology
  • Cards and Letters
  • Recorded Video Messages
  • Visits through Screened or Glass Windows
  • Visuals to Express Care
  • Care Packages

Detailed explanations of the ideas are provided on the enclosed flyer. To schedule a Face Time or face to face visitation from our screened-in porch, please reach out to Winnie Banda, Activities Director, at 913-383-2001 or 913-401-3819. Your patience, understanding and support are greatly appreciated. Please know as more information becomes available, we will keep you updated.

As a reminder, we would like to request your email address to have on file for future correspondence to keep you informed as timely as possible. Please email ShawneePARC-Families@EnsignServices.net or call 913-277-9345 to provide your email address and any changes to your home address or phone number. If we are unable to answer, please leave a detailed message on our confidential and secure voicemail system. Thank you in advance for helping us maintain your contact information current. You may also find the most recent news and information on our website at https://shawneeparc.com/news/.

As always, we thank you for your continued confidence to care for your loved one and for supporting us in our efforts to keep our residents and staff safe. Your discipline, dedication, and grace during this time is greatly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns or requests for assistance.
